I'm with Suddenlink. Try this:

1) From your iPhone desktop, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars

2) Select your Suddenlink email account and remove it by scrolling down and tapping the Delete Account button

3) Tap "Add Account" and select "Other"

4) Enter the appropriate answer for each box:

- Name: Your Name

- Address: youremail@suddenlink.net

- Password: yourpassword

- Description: A nickname for the account, whatever you like

5) Tap Save to continue

6) On the New Account screen, select POP

7) Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server and enter the following:

- Host Name: pop.suddenlink.net

- User Name: youremail@suddenlink.net

- Password: yourpassword (may already be entered)

8) Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server and enter the following:

- Host Name: smtp.suddenlink.net

- User Name: youremail@suddenlink.net

- Password: yourpassword (may already be entered)

9) Tap Save to continue

10) Tap "Yes" for any boxes that pop up saying "Cannot Connect Using SSL"

Your phone will then verify your account information and you should be able to check your messages. If you receive any error messages after this point, please contact us at the link below for more information.

Hi Steven - this information is still be current. Have you used your Suddenlink email with your phone before? Are you using an iPhone, or another type of smart phone?

Here is an updated step 8 for iOS 5.1.1

To enter your username and password for outgoing mail...

8) Scroll down to Outgoing Mail Server

- Tap the SMTP button (smtp.suddenlink.net) >
- Tap the Primary Server button (smtp.suddenlink.net) On >
- Make sure Server is ON
- Outgoing Mail Server (enter the following):
-- Host Name: smtp.suddenlink.net
-- User Name: youremail.@suddenlink.net
-- Password: yourpassword (may already be entered)
-- Use SSL: OFF
-- Authentication: Password
-- Server Port: 587 (read-only)
- Tap Done (to save)

Thanks, Brian! Although Server Port 587 is the default port used by MacMail and the iPhone, our servers will often reject it, so be wary of that. We recommend changing the Server Port to 25.

Is there a way to sync your email with suddenlink?

I use hotmail and if I delete an email from my laptop it will sync and delete it from my iphone. I think that this allows me to because hotmail isn't a "pop" type of email.

However, my parents have suddenlink email, which IS a pop email. So, when they delete an email from their laptop, it does NOT delete from their iphone and vise versa.

Can anyone help???

It's a big inconvenience!

Can you

Hi Amy-
Good news, there is a way! Instead of using POP settings on the phone, use IMAP settings and all should sync well. On your device, please use these settings:

IMAP Settings:
Incoming Mail Server: imap.suddenlink.net
Incoming mail port: 143
Incoming mail port (If you decide to use SSL): 993

SMTP Settings:
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.suddenlink.net
Outgoing mail port: 25 or 587
Outgoing mail port (If you decide to use SSL): 465

Outgoing server verification must be enabled and on. If your e-mail client has the option or checkbox that says "My outgoing server requires authentication", this will need to be checked along with "use same settings as my incoming mail server".

Should you have any more trouble, please feel free to email me at shannon@suddenlink.com. Thanks!
